The ability of a lens to steal souls is a long held belief in many cultures worldwide. Some Native Americans and Aboriginals refuse to have their photograph taken for this reason and harking back to Mayan traditions in certain towns in Mexico it remains illegal to take photographs in a church.

So is it really possible to capture someone’s soul in photography? The investigation begins…
